Marketplace billed revenue events for AWS and Azure

Overview

Until now, there was no event for billed revenue: to see what a customer had been invoiced you had to open a report, with no way to receive it in your own systems as it happened. Billed revenue is now captured as an event for AWS and Azure — aws.analytics.billed_revenue and azure.analytics.billed_revenue are recorded each time a customer is invoiced. Billing happens before payout, so the event is recorded ahead of the matching disbursement. Subscribe over webhook to receive these events in your own systems.

Value it drives

• Billed revenue events for AWS and Azure: aws.analytics.billed_revenue and azure.analytics.billed_revenue each capture a customer invoice with a curated payload — the invoiced amount, currency, the offer and the agreement or subscription it relates to, the invoice reference, and the collection status so far.
• Recorded at invoice time: the event is created when the customer is invoiced, ahead of collection and disbursement, so billed revenue is available for reconciliation and revenue recognition when it is billed, not only when it is paid out.
• Webhook delivery: each event can be delivered to your endpoint by subscribing to it in your Clazar webhook configuration.

How to get started

1. Subscribe to the events: In the Svix portal, add the billed revenue event types — aws.analytics.billed_revenue and azure.analytics.billed_revenue — to your webhook endpoint. An endpoint receives only the event types selected when it was created, so add these to an existing endpoint.

   

Things to note

• Cloud availability: Billed revenue events are available for AWS and Azure.
• Relationship to disbursement: Billed revenue precedes disbursement — the same transaction appears later as a disbursement event once the marketplace pays you.
• Invoiced revenue only: Only invoiced billed-revenue lines are recorded. Refund and credit lines are not billed revenue and are not emitted.
