How to Purchase SaaS Private Offers in the Azure Marketplace
Last updated: April 18, 2025
As a publisher (seller) in the Microsoft Azure Marketplace, offering SaaS private offers is a great way to provide custom pricing and terms to specific customers. This FAQ is designed to help you support your buyers throughout the purchase process—from sending the private offer to ensuring the subscription is fully activated.
❓ What is a SaaS Private Offer?
A private offer allows you to provide:
Custom pricing or discounts
Tailored contract durations
Specific terms for enterprise buyers
These offers are not publicly visible and are sent directly to target customers via a private offer link.
❓ How do I create and send a private offer?
You can create a private offer through Clazar
🛠 Offers are activated only after buyer acceptance and subscription setup.
❓ What happens after the buyer receives the private offer?
Once the buyer clicks the offer link, they can:
Review the terms, price, and duration.
Click “Accept” to lock in the offer.
Then proceed to “Set up + Subscribe” to finalize the purchase in the Azure portal.
Simply accepting the offer does not start billing. The buyer must complete the subscription form and click “Subscribe.”
❓ How does the buyer complete the subscription?
After accepting the offer, the buyer:
Fills out the Create SaaS Subscription form in Azure.
Clicks “Review + Subscribe” and confirms.
Once they subscribe:
A SaaS resource is created in their Azure tenant.
Billing begins immediately.
You (as the publisher) are notified via Event Grid or the Webhook integration.
❓ What is the role of the “Configure Account Now” step?
After subscription, the buyer must click “Configure Account Now”, which:
Redirects them to your landing page.
Allows you to onboard the customer (e.g., create user accounts, assign licenses, set up environments).
Marks the subscription as active.
✅ This step is critical—it completes the handshake between Azure and your SaaS backend.
❓ How can I track the buyer’s progress?
You can monitor the subscription lifecycle using:
Azure Event Grid notifications
Partner Center insights
Optional webhook callbacks on subscription events (Subscribed, Unsubscribed, etc.)
❓ What access level does the buyer need?
The buyer must have Owner or Contributor permissions on the Azure subscription being used for billing. Without this, they cannot complete the purchase.
❓ What should I do if a buyer has issues?
Confirm that they have the right permissions.
Ask if they have reached the Configure Account Now step.
Direct them to their Azure Portal under Marketplace > Manage SaaS to verify subscription status.
Open a support request via Partner Center if needed.
