How to activate and fulfill AWS Marketplace contracts

When a customer makes a purchase through AWS Marketplace, you'll need to activate the contract and provision their account. Here's the step-by-step process for handling real customer purchases.

Identifying Real Purchase Attempts

Purchase attempts in AWS Marketplace represent actual customer purchases that need to be processed. If you're unsure whether an attempt is a real purchase versus a test, you may need to verify this before proceeding with activation.

Activating the Contract

Once you've confirmed a legitimate purchase attempt, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the Contracts section in Clazar

  2. Locate the new contract that corresponds to the purchase attempt

  3. Activate the offer by selecting it from the buyers list or if the Automatic approval is enabled the offer will get activated automatically.

  4. Wait for the activation process to complete

Activation Timeline

The contract activation process typically takes a few minutes to complete. Here's what to expect:

  • Activation can take over 1 minute - this is normal

  • Allow several minutes for the process to finish completely

  • Do not proceed to the next steps until activation is confirmed as complete

Post-Activation Steps

After the contract has been successfully activated:

  1. Confirm that the activation process has finished

  2. Proceed to provision the customer's account

  3. Complete any additional onboarding steps required for your service

This completes the contract fulfillment process for AWS Marketplace purchases. The customer will now have access to your service according to the terms of their marketplace subscription.
