AWS Marketplace SaaS Policy Update: What You Need to Know

What's Changing?

AWS has updated its SaaS listing policy, now allowing you to list your SaaS solution on the AWS Marketplace regardless of where it is hosted—including Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or Microsoft Azure. However, only SaaS products validated as "Deployed on AWS" will count toward customers' AWS spend commitments. This policy takes effect on May 1, 2025.

How Does This Impact You?

If your SaaS solution is fully or partially hosted outside AWS, your customers can still purchase it via the AWS Marketplace. However, their spend will only contribute to their AWS Private Pricing Agreement (PPA) commitment if:

Your solution’s application plane and control plane run on AWS.
You have received the "Deployed on AWS" badge.

How to Get Validated

To earn the "Deployed on AWS" badge and ensure your customers receive PPA commitment benefits, follow these steps:

Prepare Your Architecture Diagrams – Align your architecture with AWS guidelines.
Submit for Review – Upload your architecture diagrams via the AWS Marketplace Management Portal (AMMP).
Allow for Review Time – Submit well before the May 1, 2025 deadline to account for AWS review and possible revisions.
